AI Processing: When you use AI features, your content is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. This data is not retained by the AI service after processing.

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Your flashcards and study data are stored locally on your device using Core Data. This ensures fast access and offline functionality.

Cloud Sync

We use Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your devices. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple's security infrastructure.

Backend Services

Credit balances and transaction history are stored securely on our servers (hosted on Vercel with PostgreSQL). We use industry-standard encryption and security practices.

AI Processing

When you use AI-powered features (deck generation, image creation), your content is sent to Google's Gemini API. Google processes this data according to their AI privacy terms but does not retain your content after processing.

Text-to-Speech

Audio generation using Kokoro TTS is performed entirely on your device. No audio data is sent to external servers.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

Apple: For iCloud sync, App Store transactions, and Sign in with Apple.
Google: For AI processing when you use AI features (content only, processed and not retained).
Service Providers: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database) - under strict data processing agreements.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your data through the app's export feature.
Delete: Delete your account and all associated data through the app settings.
Portability: Export your decks in standard formats.
Opt-out: Use the app without AI features if you prefer not to have content processed externally.

Children's Privacy

MintDeck is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

International Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws:

We process your data based on your consent and our legitimate business interests.
You have additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Data may be transferred to the United States where our servers are located, with appropriate safeguards in place.
